The Arizona World Faire and Centennial Project
Theme “Arid Lands Sustainability"
The concept for this Arizona World's Fair and Centennial Project (AWF&CP) has been clearly defined over the last 6 years by a group of dedicated volunteers who have looked to traditional World’s Faire and International Expositions and redefined the concept and its parameters to institute a new contemporary faire distinction by offering the entire state of Arizona as the backdrop and showcase for an international event.
This will set a new standard for world’s fairs, distinguishing Arizona as the first of its kind in the new millennium. The overall impact and benefits streaming from the event being shared with multiple community’s participation that will become event “NODES”.
Envisioned to compliment, salute and showcase Arizona leading up to its 2012 Centennial Celebration, Arizona’s history is the focus and starting place for the fairs concept.
The conversation of the faire itself is rooted in the cultural heritage of Arizona’s indigenous peoples, the grandeur of its natural environment, challenges of its extreme climate and most importantly the indomitable reputation and spirit of the rugged individualists who have and continue to carve out a flourishing and progressive economy and personal relationship with the arid lands of the desert west regions.
The Arizona’s World Faire and Centennial Project are about Arizona’s 100 year conversation with this beautiful yet hostile and fragile land.
Maintaining it, Sustaining it and Preserving it for future generations the continuing vision quest.
The AWF&CP will pass along the wisdom of this long conversation to other emerging cultures of the world living in similar arid environments, sharing insight fostering connections, engaging in cultural and economic collaborations.
This Arizona World Faire and Centennial Project is yet another chapter of Arizona’s history. A dialogue now with the world, about “Arid Lands Systems of Sustainability".
It is the “HOZHO", as our Native Americans refer to it, the “achieving of harmony” in this case Environment and Economy working together is the message Arizona will share with its international audience.
The Arizona World Faire and Centennial Project will serve as an all inclusive short and long term marketing vehicle for the state through 2012
This is concept of world faire and centennial project joined under the theme of sustainability more than satisfies the requirement for a “high visibility demonstration”, as called for in the Arizona Department of Commerce, Battelle study 04, “Development and Investment Prospectus to create a Sustainable Systems Industry in Arizona”
AWF&CP will strategically introduce Arizona as a major voice in regional, national and global conversations about Sustainable Economies, Environmental Stewardship, Quality of Life and further positions Arizona as a cutting edge purveyor of “Arid Lands Sustainability Systems”
